Troubleshooting

Tip #1:
Issue:  When trying to connect to IR PartnerLink using the proprietary AOL User Interface the user cannot get logon window to come up or if it does the user gets an error that the page cannot be displayed or nothing happens at all.
Resolution:  This error is caused because of the proprietary User Interface that AOL uses which is blocked by the Firewall policies that are setup for the IR Network. The resolution to this issue is as follows:

Tip #2:
Issue:  User has selected the LOGIN button on the IR PartnerLink page but nothing is happening or user gets an error that the page cannot be displayed.
Resolution:  This error is typically caused by the User's Browser Settings not being set correctly to access the IR PartnerLink site.  The user will need to change their PC Security options to be higher (TOOLS Menu=>INTERNET OPTIONS...=>SECURITY Tab=>CUSTOM LEVEL Button=>USER AUTHENTICATION Section=>LOGON Sub-section=>Prompt for user name and password), which will allow for "password challenge" prompting.

Tip #3:
Issue:  User gets a prompt to enter Username, Password and Domain after selecting the LOGIN button on the IR PartnerLink page but after selecting the OK button the pop-up window returns.  After selecting the OK button 3 times you get an error page with the following message:  'HTTP Error 401.3 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to an ACL set on the requested resource.'
Resolution:  This error is usually caused by the username and password not matching when trying to authenticate to the server.  Unfortunately, the only way to resolve this issue is to submit a request to have the password reset to the username.  When submitting your request be sure to include your Username, Password, and that you are needing your password reset.

Tip #4:
Issue:  After the user has selected the LOGIN button on the IR PartnerLink logon page, they are not getting a pop-up box to enter their username and password but instead are getting an error page with the following message:  'HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to server configuration.'
Resolution:   This error is usually caused by the user trying to connect to IR PartnerLink via a Proxy Server.  Unfortunately, due to the security risk of Proxy Servers, Ingersoll-Rand's Firewall will not allow for the use of Proxy Servers to access internal systems.  There are two possible solutions that you can do to correct the issue, both of which require you to disable the use of Proxy Servers while accessing IR PartnerLink:

Solution #1:  If Proxy Servers are not needed or are no longer being utilized, discontinue the use of Proxy Servers by UNCHECKING the following check box:
TOOLS Menu=>INTERNET OPTIONS...=>CONNECTIONS Tab=>LAN SETTINGS Button=>PROXY SERVER Section=>Use a proxy server for your LAN

Solution #2:  If Proxy Servers must be utilized within your LAN then ADD this EXCEPTION for the IR PartnerLink site:
TOOLS Menu=>INTERNET OPTIONS...=>CONNECTIONS Tab=>LAN SETTINGS Button=>PROXY SERVER Section=>ADVANCED Button=>EXCEPTIONS Section=>Do not use proxy server for addresses beginning with:  www.irpartnerlink.com

Tip #5:
Issue:  User is new to IR PartnerLink and was given a Username and Password some time ago but has not used it to access IR PartnerLink until now.  The user is not able to access the site and is getting an error page with the following message:  'HTTP Error 401.3 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to an ACL set on the requested resource.'
Resolution:   This error was usually caused by the account expiring because it had not been used within a specified amount of time.  New accounts no longer have this expiration date and should not be effected but older accounts will need to submit a request to have the account reactivated.  When submitting your request be sure to include your Username, Password, and that you are needing your account reactivated.
